The kids and I went to the Nature’s Environmental Oasis Park or Neo Park as everyone calls it. The park is in Nago, which is about an hour’s drive from our house. I’d heard so many good and bad things about it, I figured we had to just check it out ourselves.
The park covers 62 acres and is full of animals, plants, and flowers. Don’t go thinking it’s a zoo, though. The park is full of mostly birds. There was a wide variety of birds and they were out in the open, not in cages. The birds were comfortable with humans and followed us some, but mostly left us alone.
For an additional fee, you could take the kids to the petting zoo. I had read reviews online that stated emaciated dogs were tied up and staked at the park. There were dogs and they were at the petting zoo. The dogs were tied up, so kids could walk them around a large grassy area. There were also smaller dogs inside a pen to play with. The dogs all looked well fed and happy to me. It looked like the dogs were species that aren’t as common on island, like a dalmatian. The petting zoo also had rabbits, guinea pigs, a pig, goats, a large turtle, and some other animal that I can not for the life or me remember what it’s called. The kids got to feed a few different animals and yes, Little Missy took a turtle ride. The turtle never moved, but she was still excited!
Numerous fish filled ponds were around the park. Food was available to buy to feed the fish and the birds. There was very few people there (we did go in November) and we made it through in about an hour. It’s not a zoo by any means, but it was a nice park.
