We woke up to sunshine Sunday morning, meaning the typhoon was totally gone. We waited till about noon, then headed out. I thought that maybe the storm washed up some good shells, so we headed to the beach. The tide was out, so we the kids and I walked around to see what we could find. We managed to find hundreds of shells it seemed like. Nine times out of ten, they had crabs in them. We leave those alone. Poor crabs have enough trama from Little Missy throwing them back in the water, I don’t want to give them PTSD.
We headed to a different part of the beach next. We had just started to look around when I saw this guy.
Not a great shot, but he was probably a foot and half long. I thought he was dead. I told the kids to stay back, since sea snakes are super poisonous, and got within a couple feet of him when he moved. That promptly freaked me out, so we left.
Since we where in the area, we went to the Zakimi Castle Ruins. I had been there before and the kids weren’t overly impressed, so we didn’t stay long.
We did find some storm damage.
We found this sign in Yomitan, north of Kadena. This sign is from around Naha, I think, which is a 30-45 minute drive. I’m guessing the wind got it there?
Then we saw this on the way home.
We did get some great shells though.
And sadly, we managed to bring four crabs home. I know we checked all the shells, so those guys must have been pretty far back in their shells. We put them in the yard, so maybe they won’t die. At least, that’s what I told the kids.
