Once a year, every base on island has a festival. They are open to locals and military and supposed to be about friendship with the locals or something like that. Anyways, this past weekend was the festival on MCAS Futenma. All the festivals on base kinda blend together, but this one promised aircraft, so we took the kids.
I can’t even begin to tell you what all this stuff was. Except the Osprey! Everyone on Okinawa knows the Osprey! (The locals protest about the Osprey. Some of them want it gone.) The husband had a good time telling us what each plane or helicopter was, what they do, and if and when he rode in one. They let everyone climb around in them too.
I love that my kids get to do stuff like this. The little one thinks her daddy flies around in helicopters all day and kills bad guys, so she loved seeing all the helicopters! And no, we don’t correct her. What would be the fun in that?
