Memorial Day ended up being the first pretty day after what seemed like weeks of rain. I wanted to make sure we did something fun outside, so hiking to waterfalls, or taki in Japanese, was the goal of the day.
We drove all the way up to Okuma to go to Kijoka Falls. It was easy to find and even easier to get too.
The Kijoka area of the Ogimi village is home to the falls. The residents call the top part of the falls Kijoka-taki and the bottom part Nana-taki.
The second waterfall was just north of Nago. This one was trickier to find. Once we found the start of the trail, it was a good 15 minute hike, but the entire trail was gravel and cleared from the surrounding jungle. The entire hike was shaded, but it was so humid! We were drenched, me from sweat, the kids from playing in the water, when we finally made it back to the car. I’m so glad the kids like doing stuff like this!
