We’ve been staying at my in-laws the past week. They aren’t too far away, so we came here first to get some family time in. I grew up with my family all around. I knew all my aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as all my extended family. We got together on holidays, birthdays, and lots of other times in between. I can remember many random get togethers, playing with my cousins. At one set of grandparents, we always played in the hall closet. How we managed to fit all five of us in there, I’m not sure, but it was always fun.
My cousins were my first friends, besides my sister. I didn’t realize what my kids were missing out on until this week. The kids spent a few days with both of their cousins. Little Man had never been to this set of grandparent’s house, so he was extra excited about the week.
There was a birthday party for the soon to be 9 year old cousin, but besides that it was just lots of playing, swinging, a few crafty projects, and hanging out. The kids also got big kicks out of their uncles.
Within the next couple months, we should also be making a trip to my parents. There is so much I want to show the kids and I can’t wait for my family to see them!
