We are back from our mini vacation! It was way too short. Way, way, too short, but I’m glad I got to go.
We (the kids and I) flew in Wednesday. My dad picked us up and we met my sister for a quick dinner. She already had plans to be out of town for the weekend, so that’s the best we could do.
Thursday, I picked up my new car. My 2014 Ford Explorer! Well, I attempted to pick it up. We ordered while we were still in Okinawa through the Exchange New Car Sales. The salesman were fine over there, but I’m not a fan of the part that is stateside. They were misinformed on a lot of things, told me wrong information, and didn’t tell me the car was at the dealer until almost 3 weeks later. If they would have told me when it arrived, I would have been able to go home earlier and spend more time there. Anyways, when I drove it to make sure all was ok, the blinkers didn’t work. I thought I was just stupid. We even pulled over and my grandma and I got the manual out to see how to use them. It wasn’t me. They really didn’t work. That was a stressful couple hours while they figured out if and when they could get the part, but they gave me a loaner and delivered mine the next day.
Friday, I met up with some friends and family and ran around town. Little Man was impressed I knew my way around. Hello, kid! I did live here for 20 some years.
Saturday was spent running around again. We took the kids to see the Mississippi River and to a car show that night. I never realized how small of a town I’m from until now. They blocked off a couple streets and anybody with an old or fancy car can park and let people gawk at them. The little one likes corvette’s. She has expensive taste already.
Sunday morning we were gone by 5:08. I’ll save the road trip for another day!
