Saturday, we went to San Diego. We live an hour away, so it was kind of a big deal. I’ve never been to San Diego and actually gotten the chance to explore, so I was excited.
First stop was the Children’s Museum. It was one of the Blue Star Museums, so we got in free. The current exhibition is Trash. Everything in there was made out of trash of some sort. The kids played in dumpsters (clean of course!), ran through mazes, made animals out of clay, painted an old car, and just generally acted like kids and had fun.
The day was still early when we finished at the museum, so since we were close, we headed over to the USS Midway. The ship alone is worth it’s own post.
We were on the Midway for hours and my feet were starting to hurt. I had told the kids about the sand castle competition and they insisted we check it out, so we walked down to see it. The little one was starting to get super cranky (she wanted to go on the rides and I said no), so we just looked at the sand castles and left. Too bad they weren’t actually building them on the beach! It doesn’t seem right to just dump sand and build them on a pier.
It was a fun day though. It’s been a while since we had one of our exploring days and I was happy to be at it again.
