My sister was here for almost a week over Christmas. My in-laws, brother-in-laws, niece, and nephew also came down the weekend before Christmas. They mostly came down so the guys could go to the Charger/Raider game. My husband is a HUGE Chargers fan and everyone else is a Raiders fan. Odd yes, but they make it work. With my mother-in-law here, we had a built in babysitter!
On Saturday, we went to two wineries in Temecula. The first, South Coast Winery, was the only one I had been to before. The wine tasting was $20 for 5. My sister paid for hers and while I was paying for mine, the cashier said “Oh! You’re military. I’ll give you the discount so it’s only $7.50.” He refunded the difference for my sister too. That’s a huge discount!
Our next stop was the Monte De Oro Winery. We were both disappointed in this place. We stood at the counter to do our tastings, but apparently you could eat there as well, since people’s half eaten plates were piled next to us. The staff wasn’t very attentive either. We finally just took our glasses out to sit on the terrace. The sun was warm and shining and it felt nice to just sit and talk.
Sunday, the mother-in-law took the grandkids to Legoland, the guys went to the football game, so we set out to explore San Diego. More about that later. Monday, I got off work earlier than expected. I haven’t had a pedicure since June, so we went to a place close to my house. They were busy and we waited a bit, but they were super nice, it was cheap, and this girl got her first mani/pedi! She kept calling it a pedicare. She was pretty good considering how long we waited, but she loved every minute of being a big girl.
