Since we found out we were leaving, it’s been a rush to see everyone and do everything before we run out of time. The Temecula area has approximately 30 wineries. One wouldn’t think it, but once you drive out to where they all are, it’s just rolling hills of grape vines and gorgeous buildings housing their tasting rooms and restaurants. Wineries are just one of those places that are perfect for getting together with your girlfriends. I’d been to a couple other local wineries (here and here) and a last trip was in order!
Saturday, I met Nicole at Wilson Creek Winery for lunch. We didn’t have tons of time, so we skipped the tasting and just had lunch at the Creekside Grille. It was an outdoor seating area, but well covered and heaters were set up near the tables. We started with the California Cheese Plate and a glass of Almond Sparkling Wine. For lunch, we both ended up having one of the specials, the Cuban. It was soooo good.
Nicole was the first new friend I had after moving here. We had both read each others blogs, so a meet up was in order. I think I was the first person she ever met like this. It’s kinda weird meeting online friends in real life. Once you’ve done it once or twice though, it’s no longer slightly creepy and nerve wracking and just flat out fun. We then started getting together with a group of other military wives in the area, but she and I were the only ones (at that time) with kids. We are at different places in our life than everyone else, so it kinda helped us bond. That and we never had issues with conversation. She and I could talk about things and neither one of us would ever get offended or think bad about the conversation. It’s not always easy to find people you can talk freely with like that. I must say I’m going to miss her.
