Disclosure: I was provided a box in exchange for my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Subscription boxes make every month your birthday month. Or is that just me? No? Anyways, I love subscription boxes and this one is no exception. I got this one for a few months last year and I was so excited when they contacted me again. Yes please! Send those spices my way!
RawSpiceBar is a subscription box of spices. Each month is themed and the spices correlate to the them. Recipes are also included to make use of the spices and more recipes can be found on their site. The spices have been ground within 7-10 days of you receiving them, so you know they are fresh.
The October box was properly themed for Oktoberfest. It came with schnitzel spices, horseradish and mustard seeds, and caraway, fennel, and anise bread.
I don’t usually play around with spices. I stick to the same things. These are nice because the spices are already mixed and all I have to do is cook. The recipes normally call for easy things that you will either have on hand and can easily acquire. Or maybe you are one of those people who can throw stuff together and make it work. I can’t do that.
I made the schnitzel and cabbage using the horseradish and mustard seeds based on the recipes provided. Holy goodness! I’ve made my version of schnitzel plenty of times, but the extra spices really did make a difference.
The box is $6 a month if you do the 12 month subscription or $8 a month if you do month to month. That is well worth it if you like to cook.
