I go through phases where I don’t really watch TV for months, then I totally binge watch a show. We canceled our Directv, so all we have is Netflix now. I watched The Crown and loved it. I love period pieces though. Then I maybe binged all five seasons of Call The Midwife. Now I don’t have anything to watch again, so I’ll go back to lots of reading.
Christmas came and went too quick. We didn’t get to do as much as I wanted, but the little one and I did get to see The Nutcracker. I hadn’t seen it since I was little and she had never seen it live, so it was a treat. We walked around downtown then to see all the lights, including those on the Riverwalk.
She says sitting on Santa’s lap embarrasses her, but she did agree to see him. She questioned me this year on whether he was real or not, but then said she still believed. It was just her friends telling her he wasn’t real. I’m guessing this was the last year of Santa for her.
The big one splits the Christmas vacation between us and his dad. Well, his aunt is stationed in Italy, so they went to Europe for the week. I was only slightly jealous. I want to go to England! It’s been on my shortlist for years. He said he had a great time though. My sister got him a new camera for Christmas, so he was able to take lots of pictures for us. With no family around, Christmas isn’t as fun as I feel it should be. We did spend Christmas Eve with some friends though. Christmas Day was spent playing with all our new toys. I was always used to spending the holidays with all my family. I still haven’t quite gotten used to not doing that.
Poor girl also got her first set of braces on. She still has her expander in and the braces are only on her top four teeth. They’ll put them on her bottom four teeth soon enough and then she’ll get a permanent retainer put in too.
We had a good Christmas though. We don’t go crazy with the kids, so they only get a handful of gifts from us (Santa) and then whatever is in their stockings (usually candy, Lego mini figures, and other small things). I’m pretty sure I won the best gift giver award. I gave the husband a gorgeous framed print of the Lonesome Dove trail. He loves that movie/series. Love is even an understatement there. I knew he would like this and he did. The kids and I made out pretty good too.
I got the December Kawaii box. I love this box. Heck, I love subscription boxes in general. One of my Christmas presents was a subscription to the Book of the Month Club, which I’m super stoked about. Can’t go wrong with subscription boxes!
