The third cookbook giveaway is for 2 cookbooks: ‘Best Recipes of the Great Food Companies’ and ‘The Four Ingredient Cookbook’.
As an entry, we were asked to write a post about the best day we ever had with our Marine. I don’t want to say our wedding day (even though that was a GREAT day), so it is a collection of days.
We went on a three week vacation in June before he left for Okinawa. We got to spend so much time as a family. We drove halfway across the country to California. Being in the truck for hours on end allowed us to talk about things. Being away from home allowed us to actually spend quality time together without either of us being on a computer or watching tv. We stopped and saw a lot of his friends, many that I had never met. It’s always funny to hear another side to the story and I heard the other side to plenty of hubby’s storys! There were a few days when he would do something with a friend, but for the most part, we spent the whole three weeks together. I am so glad we were able to do this. In preperation of him being gone for 2 years, we needed this extra time together. Since we stayed with friends and family, we were able to do things on our own as well, without kids! That is a rare occurance.
I know this isn’t a day like requested, but I couldn’t pinpoint one certain day of the vacation that was better than another. Us in San Francisco, a beach in NorCal, Dodger Stadium, at Mirimar, and the Coors Brewery:

I recently received a laptop sleeve from Terracycle and decided it would be a great way to promote their efforts by giving it away!
If you aren’t familiar with the company, they are the world’s leader in the collection and reuse of non-recyclable post-consumer waste. TerraCycle works with over thirty major brands in the US (and in a growing number of other countries) to collect used packaging and products (chip bags, candy wrappers, juice pouches, pens, toothbrushes, etc.) that would otherwise be destined for landfills. It repurposes that waste into new eco-friendly materials and products that are available online and through major retailers. The waste is collected through TerraCycle’s Brigade programs, which are free fundraisers that pay schools and non-profits for every piece of waste they collect and return.
Yak Pak has teamed with TerraCycle to manufacture products from repurposed, discarded, vinyl billboard material to create high quality, extremely durable, water resistant fabric, which otherwise would have ended up in a landfill. These products are representative of the shared goal to help reduce consumption of natural resources and minimize waste.
Yak Pak EUG Laptop Sleeves are manufactured from recycled, discarded, vinyl billboard material. This high quality, extremely durable, water resistant fabric could have ended up in landfill if not for the intervention of this manufacturing process. Collaborating with upcycling experts TerraCycle, these bags are representative of Yak Pak and TerraCycle’s goal to help reduce consumption of natural resources and minimise waste while creating great products.
The sleeve is a dark orange color with brown around the zipper. The inside is lined with black, nylon material. Each side has a thick foam pad. It fits up to a 15.4″ laptop. My laptop fits in it.
Go to Terracycle and tell me something about the company.
