Being married to a military man, means I always see a clean shaven face. I know beards are the thing right now, but you will never see that in my house. Marine Corps regulations state that “The face will be clean-shaven, except that a mustache may be worn. When worn, the mustache will be neatly trimmed and must be contained within the set lines. The individual length of a mustache hair fully extended must not exceed 1/2 inch.” See? No facial hair at my house. Even on the weekends, my husband will shave if we are leaving the house. He is a Marine, first and foremost. It’s one of the ways you can easily point a Marine, or any member of the military out. #SmoothSummer
Because he shaves religiously and must have a good shave (as opposed to a crappy shave), I want to make sure he has the best razor to do the job. I bought him the Gillette Fusion razor with Flexball Technology at Wal-Mart. He needs a good, heavy duty razor that can keep up with constant use and I really liked the Flexball Technology. That little orange ball flexes, causing the head of the razor to turn and pivot, following the contours of the skin. Sounds like a good shave to me!
So, you wonder what are the other ways I think make it easy to spot a Marine?
1. The face. A Marine will always be clean shaven. Some guys like to grow a beard when on leave, but even then, a lot of guys keep it shaved. Hopefully they’ve got as good a razor as mine!
2. The hair. The haircut always gives a Marine away. Some keep a high and tight, some shave it completely, and some just keep a nice fade. Either way, it always looks like he just got it cut.
3. The tattoos. I know now everyone has tattoos, but Marines seem to love them. Odds are, at least one of his tattoos will be military related too.
4. The posture. I’m sure not everyone notices this, but if you are at a ball game, pay attention during the National Anthem. You can tell a Marine by how he stands at attention. I never noticed it before marrying my husband, but I always notice it now. It is never forgotten.
A good Marine, or member of any branch of the military, will stay within military regulations when it comes to haircuts and shaving. We may not see it as a big deal, but they get up every morning and make sure their face is smooth and shaved, so they visibly, are the best Marine they can be. #CollectiveBias
