We are back. We had a week long road trip vacation. It was fun, but it was a lot of driving. We left Friday morning and covered 4 states and 2,377.5 miles. We saw a lot of people and had a great time. I wish there would have been more things to stop and see along the way, but this drive was pretty boring. I’m a big fan of stopping to see weird things, my husband, though? Not so much. He is a road warrior, focused on the end goal with only stops for gas and bathroom breaks.
On the first day, we drove 13 hours, from our house to my parents. We left early enough that we got there at 7 and had some time to hang out before bed. The next morning, we all picked up my Grandma and met my sister, aunt, uncle, and cousin in St. Louis. We played tourist, went to a baseball game, and just enjoyed the company. It’s hard for everyone to get together these days, and while we were still missing people, we had a great time. On Sunday, we headed back down to my parents. We got together with more family, ate at our local favorites, and spent time getting to know some Missouri State Parks again.
We left Missouri Wednesday morning, headed to Oklahoma. The husband has a friend that we stayed a couple days with. Friday morning, we set out for home. It was only about 8 hours this time, so a much easier drive! This is the third year in a row we’ve gone to Missouri in August. I want to take an actual vacation and go somewhere new and fun, but I’m not going to pass up seeing my family.
